Happy Hump Day!
We welcome you to another stop along our Farewell to Texas tour. As previously mentioned, we’ve been making the rounds to all of our favorite places in and around the San Antonio area before we move (in just over two weeks!).
We first discovered Enchanted Rock a few years ago after a co-worker of mine recommended it. Since then, it’s been at the top of our list of things to do when out-of-state visitors are staying with us. It’s a welcome departure from sprawling San Antonio and suburban life. It’s also a vigorous hike to the top!
We made a pit stop midway up so Gus (and us) could get a drink of water. Don’t forget to comment on this post for a chance to win a Popware for Pets collapsible travel cup!
More Totally Rad Action fun… Dirty Lovin (L), Sparta (R)
This was my first attempt at playing with the textured actions (Dirty Lovin), and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked the texture. It gives it a little extra something-something.
Bitchin B&W (L), Oh, Snap (R):
Hi! We tried to get Gus to raise a paw and wave hello, but he refused. 😉
Once we got to the top, we all sat down to enjoy the view. In Gus’s case, he took the opportunity to plop down in his dad’s lap for a quick snooze. 🙂
Oh, Snap (L), Super Fun Happy No Glow (R):
It’s a looong way up and a looong way down!
Good thing Katie was there to save Gus. The giant boulder almost fell on him! 😉
Mitch just couldn’t resist his chance at a silly photo…
Once we reached the bottom, we decided to explore a bit more on the Loop Trail.
Goodbye, Enchanted Rock! Thanks for the memories!

Hi! Hu-mom and some of my hu-man brothers and sisters have been to Enchanted Rock! Grandmother is from Texas and was living in Llano before she moved in with us here in VA in 1997. We were there about 20 years ago and it hasn’t changed. The boys loved to climb and run up and down the rock and it was hot then, too!
Our favorite picture of Gus is the one of him all alone on the rock, Snap. His coloring really stands out.

That looks like a great place. You took some fabulous pictures. The one of Gus being saved from the gigantic boulder made me lol. Also loved the silhouettes. The Totally Rad action are cool! We know you will find some equally cool places along your travels, (well we are counting on it!). Just over two weeks, huh?

What an appropriate name, that place is a bit rocky, isn’t it? Although very beautiful at the same time, and it sure makes for a good walk.
Good thing Katie was there to stop that big rock from crushing our favourite doggie model. Superwoman to the rescue! It looks like Superman Mitch was a tad late in his reactions 😛

Great pictures, really shows how much fun this spot is. Looks like quite the view too. Your photo style is beginning to show (that’s a good thing). Glad someone has the time to use the actions. Thanks for sharing this spot, i still say you make a book one day, or archive things somewhere on here.
Happy Wednesday

welcome to the world of digital photography… It’s all just rather sad when I think of how many photos/events/shoots people have never even seen because I have not had the time to store/edit/share them. Making books of such things is a retirement project I am already planning 😉 But I always say, at least i have a record of it, even if nobody has seen it.

Wow, this looks beautiful! I bet it was hard work walking up those rocks – I never would have made it! Good job, Gus!
My package arrived yesterday! Thanks so much! I will post about it next week.

Ok, can I just say that I love that we get to see pics of you all now?? And I’m on my first cup of coffee so when I read Dirty Lovin (L), Sparta (R), I thought you were giving cutesy nicknames to Mitch and your sis. I think Dirty Lovin would be an awesome nickname 🙂
Beautiful park though, I wish Lincoln was a hiker like Gus. I took him to the park last night and struggled just to walk one lap around the lake since he stops every five feet to sniff or pee.
According to Gus
May 25, 2011
Love it – Dirty Lovin would definitely be an awesome nickname. 🙂
Gus gets in those sniff/pee modes a lot too. Sometimes we know it’s just an “air pee”, but he does it so he can stop and be lazy!

Yeah, Mitch’s students wouldn’t make fun of him AT ALL if they knew about this! 🙂 Smart idea, keeping him anonymous until now!
There’s a hike in Maine you should keep in mind– Cadillac Mountain, where the sun says hello to the East Coast every morning!

I’m not surprised that Gus napped at the top of that summit – what a hike! Absolutely beautiful, though. If we ever visit San Antonio, we’ll definitely keep that at the top of our list.
Just over TWO weeks to your adventure?! Time’s going by like greased lightning!!

Hi Y’all,
I’m so glad your humans are more organized that mine, Gus. My Human would be pulling her hair out if she only had 2 weeks to finish packing! She sure wouldn’t be runnin’ around sayin’ goodbye to all her favorite sights.
Really enjoy seein’ all the places since my Human used to live there “once upon a time” in the “olden days”.
Y’all come by now,
Hawk aka BrownDog

Oh, don’t worry. Tell your human that we are pulling our hair out – we’re just doing a great job of making it sound like we’re cool, calm and collected. 😉

Awesome, as usual. But I think you forgot to post the “I’m going to crush you [big rock] with my little fingers” and the “OMG, there’s a huge boulder behind me; I’d better run fast” shots. (Extra bonus for the “I’m going to eat this entire big rock” photo.)
