My, on my!
What a wonderful day!
Plenty of sunshine headin’ my way!
Zip A Dee Doo Dah
Zip A Dee Eh
If you can’t tell already, we’re really excited today is Friday. Not only do Mitch and I have the afternoon off, we also plan on packing up the kitchen. There’s nothing we I love more than crossing an item off our ginormous to-do list! Our afternoon plans also coincide with San Antonio Food Bank’s Stamp Out Hunger Drive. It’s a win-win. Our pantry will be cleaned out and we’ll be donating to a worthy organization. 😀
Side note: Are we the only ones who thought the lyrics were “zippity” instead of “zip a dee“?
While we’re on the subject of weekend shenanigans, we wanted to share our recent dog friendly dining experience. Before our stroll down Main Street, we stopped in at our favorite Fredericksburg dog friendly restaurant, Hondo’s.
We first visited Hondo’s several years ago after making a quick call to the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce for a list of dog friendly dining options. One look at Hondo’s menu, and we were sold. Any restaurant that has an entire section of their menu devoted to “Hot Crunchies” holds the key to our hearts.
Once again, I had a little fun with my Totally Rad Action sets. I used the Oh, Snap action on the left and Sparta on the right.
We arrived at Hondo’s just before noon on a Saturday and had the entire patio area to ourselves for the first 30 minutes or so. It was perfect – Gus was able to explore while we snapped photos.
Hondo’s onion strings ($4.95) and chipotle dipping sauce are ah-mazing. I’m not exaggerating when I say I lay awake at night dreaming of these. Mitch isn’t a huge fan of onions, but even he cannot deny the deliciousness of Hondo’s onion strings. Ughhh…I’m salivating just looking at these photos!
Their homemade parmesan potato chips ($4.50) are equally drool-worthy. They’re perfectly crunchy with just the right amount of salt + pepper + cheese. Yum-O!
Because we knew we were going to indulge in lots of fried goodies, Katie and I both ordered the Kid’s Donut Hole Burger + Curly Fries ($5.05).
Mitch opted for the man-sized Bacon Cheddar Burger ($7.75).
Gus was such a good boy throughout our entire meal. He cozied up in between me and Katie on the picnic table bench and didn’t make a peep.
Although we consumed enough calories for the entire weekend, it was soooo worth it!

The onion rings look delish! I’m a big fan of them as well. The arbor in the photos is so pretty. What type of vine do they have growing on it? I’m sure you will miss all these fabulous place when you have to leave.

Those onion string things look incredible. Ha, I think I’m already hungry for lunch!
There are a few restaurants in Charleston that are dog friendly, I love going and seeing all the sweet pups.
Have a good weekend!

looks like another lovely spot to eat… you have been spoiled. Good luck with the kitchen! If I remember right, I think that was actually one of the easier rooms to pack as things were kind of already sorted.
More rain headed this way for the next week. Guess our 70’s and sunny couldn’t last forever.

That looks fab. As a big, big cheese fan, I’d say those parmesan potato chips and the cheddar burger look simply divine…
And yes … I, too, thought it was “zippity” 🙂

What a gorgeous restaurant! Even though I just ate lunch, I think I am hungry again. I am very jealous of your location and your sunshine, by the way. I really need to think about moving to Texas.
By the way, I totally used to think it was zippity too until someone online corrected me. Oops.

An order of Curly Q’s to go, puhleese!
I’m perplexed by the donut burger … the menu says (of course I clicked on the “hot crunchies” link and looked at the menu even though I’m a handful of states away from Hondo’s patio!) the burgers are shaped into donuts, which made me think they have a hole in the middle but from your pic, it looks like an old-fashioned burg. What’s the secret?

I love all things onion: French onion soup, sauteed onions, caramelized onions, onion rings and more! I make sure Oscar steers away from onions (and other human foods doggies can’t eat), but I feel sorry for him not being able to enjoy yummy onion dishes. 🙂

Your food pictures ought to be banned from the blogosphere! They are dangerous…way too dangerous… I’m already putting on the calories just viewing the onion strings and homemade potato chips on the computer screen 😉

What a beautiful place for an outdoor lunch. It reminded me of many of the country eateries in Australia. I also found myself noticing Gus’s harness that buckles on. Where did you find it? My mom has trouble with the pinch closures on most harnesses, so I’d love to find her something easier to attach. Thanks for any help: LetsAdoptaDogPark@gmail.com

Mmmm… Looks good. I’m trying to convince my people to take them with me to Fredricksburg this weekend. Maybe the will after I show them this. I already showed them that Enchanted Rock allows dogs!
Are there other dog-friendly restaurants that you tried in Fredricksburg?
According to Gus
November 1, 2011
Hi, Cody! I hope you get to ride along to Fredericksburg! Hondo’s was our favorite place to stop with Gus, but there are several others that allow dogs on their patios. Check with the Chamber of Commerce. They gave me a list several years ago, but I do not have it handy right now.
Have fun!!

November 7, 2011
Hi! I did get to go to Fredericksburg. It was a long ride, though. We went to Enchanted Rock. I liked it until we got near the top. I did not like the wind. I never took a walk in that kind of wind before!
We went to a restaurant called Silver Creek Beer Garden and Grill. It was nice and we sat in the sun, which I liked. People who walked by kept pointing at me and smiling. I think they liked seeing a German dog in a German town. My people seemed to like the food, and it sure smelled good! They didn’t give me any, though. Typical!
All in all, it was a great day and a great adventure!

I just realized that your post started with Zip A Dee Doo Dah. The singer at Silver Creek sang that at the end of singing “25 Minutes to Go,” which was once performed by Johnny Cash! I love those kinds of little connections. 🙂

Your spray tan should enhance your look and accentuate your dress.
One of the preparations that you can take is to wax and shave your body
at least 24 hours before the tanning. Do you want to get a good looking
spray tan that lasts. One of the benefits of purchasing a self
tanning lotion that has a bronzer included is that you can purchase a lotion that works for your complexion. There are many products
available these days that assist in the process of tanning without sunning.
Using self tanners can be a little intimidating and
leave your skin spotty according to Us Weekly unless it is applied correctly.
Spray tan machines are of different types; the HVLP is popularly used in salons
as well as for mobile businesses. By way of the
1970s and 80s, individuals were becoming busier. Avoid showering or
shaving for up to 24 hours or session, to allow the tanning pigments to set.
Why Sunless Spray Tanning is a Safer Alternative During Pregnancy.
