*Warning* Photos of pizza, burgers, fish tacos and french fries are included in this post. Proceed with caution…or at least with a full tummy. 😀
We are huge fans of Orderup, a local dining chain in San Antonio. It’s a great place to stop for a quick, casual meal with Gus, and their eclectic menu (pizzeria, taqueria, burgeria) ensures that everyone can order something they love.
We stopped here one weekend for lunch during a house showing (no, the house hasn’t sold yet!) and we walked away satisfied, full and possibly a few pounds heavier. But it was worth it. 🙂
Ahhhhhh – I miss his long hair so much! As I mentioned in our last post, M loves him short and sleek, but I am so looking forward to when it grows out again.
We may have done a little happy dance when we noticed cheese fries were on the menu.
If you’ve read any of our previous dog friendly dining posts, you’re probably thinking all we eat is pizza, burgers and french fries. Contrary to what we’ve posted about, we’re actually quite healthy. We exercise six times per week and eat boring, healthy meals like homemade vegetable soup during the week. So, we feel no guilt when we splurge on the weekends with some grease-laden yumminess.
You can see that Gus’s patience was wearing thin in the next couple of photos.
Either share some of your good eats, or let’s get the hell outta here!
So, we obliged with a few napkin-pressed (to remove some of the grease) hunks of hamburger.
Nom.
If you find yourself in San Antonio and are looking for a quick, inexpensive bite to eat with (or without) your furry loved one. We recommend stopping in at Orderup. We’ve dined here for breakfast and lunch and it’s a great alternative to the run of the mill fast food chains.

Fish tacos are healthy, aren’t they? For that matter, aren’t cheese fries? 😉
I like that picture of Gus looking straight into the camera. He has such an expressive face.

I agree – potatoes are vegetables and cheese is a good source of protein. In fact, I think we should incorporate cheese fries into more of our meals. 😉

You are so fortunate to have so many wonderful places to bring Gus. There are a few in my area that I will be checking out over the summer, but we definitely need more. The food looks delicious and Gus looks like he enjoyed his hamburger:) What a lucky dog:)

You never know – more places may be dog friendly and they just don’t advertise it. We tweeted Orderup before we stopped with Gus and they said it was no problem. Maybe you would have the same luck in your area?

Thanks for the warning at the beginning, but I ignored it, and now I’m sorry. LOL! Looks like a great place to eat! 🙂 Gus definitely seemed to enjoy it!

looks like another great spot to eat.. Cheese fries yum. Wish I had your motivation/determination to exercise that much. Doubt I will do much today either as it looks like it’s going to be hot and HUMID. If only the river were normal we could go swim. But it’s been way high for like a month now.
Happy Wednesday

Everything looks so yummilicious, but those cheese fries are a must have for me! Lol, Gus has the most annoyed-looking expression being left out of the feast. It’s a good thing you guys made it up to him with some bits of hamburger. I bet he was all smiles after that 😀

I was wondering if your house had sold yet. Are you getting a little nervous?
Beautiful photos of Gus as usual. All your reviews on dog-friendly dining places make us want to go check some out in Seattle this summer. I am afraid Chester and Gretel will end up embarassing us though. They are not as well behaved as Gus.
Happy Wednesday!
According to Gus

Nervous is an understatement. Daily freak-outs are now a common occurence around our house. We’re leaving June 11th no matter what – we just hope it sells by then.
I bet they’ll do better than you think! I hope you get a chance to scope out some good ones – we can’t wait to get to Seattle!

Great place, and I like the look of that food. If Gus liked it, it must have been yummy. We’re healthy eaters, too, but enjoy the occassional ‘fatty’ treat. We do have to live a little, don’t we? Eating healthily most of the time makes little treats like this more special, I think. Thanks for the photos, you’re really good at drawing your reader into your adventures.

What a fantastic-looking spot! It’s a good thing I just ate lunch and I appreciate the warning! Though right now I am more jealous it is warm enough there to hang out with your dog on the patio. I really can’t wait for patio season here now that my dog handles strangers so much better!

I absolutely love fries. I stick to relatively healthy meals during the weekday, too, so I’m guilt-free whenever I splurge on greasiness. Not to mention I’ve been blessed with a really, really fast metabolism. Oscar and I are both bottomless pits. 😀
I don’t know if I could bring Oscar to any dog-friendly restaurants… He’s shameless when it comes to begging. Who knows? Someday I’ll give it a try! 😀

Wowserz! Look at all the good food! I wish mommy and daddy would take me lots more places to eat with them, but I think first I need to start enjoying riding in the car. 😉
Wendy, omg, that sock monkey sweater is adorable! Monkeys are a bit too cutesy for me to wear though…

Orderup has a great concept!
We’ve only tried to take the dogs to one restaurant patio (not in the dog-friendly mall) in Richmond (a Panera Bread) and they were totally cool with it. The staff even came outside to dote over them.
It certainly always pays to ask!
If you guys are into superb burgers, the best burgers in Richmond (no lie – local hole-in-the-wall gem) are here: http://www.carytownburgersandfries.com/
(I know, I was supposed to put it on your spreadsheet.)
It’s in a WAY cool uptown shopping district called Cary Town, which you would love. Anyway, I’m sure Gus would be welcome on the patio…if you ask. (The owner’s dogs are named Burger and Fries.)

thanks for the review!
