Happy Friday!
We don’t know about you, but our week flew by like the blink of an eye. Between house showings, out-of-state visitors and monitoring Gus’s recovery, we’ve hardly had a chance to catch our breath. Although we’re sad to see M’s spring break week come to a close, it also means we’re one week closer to our trip. Luckily, so far, excited > scared to death about what lies ahead. We’ll let you know in a month. We might be hyperventilating with our head between our knees, breathing into paper bags. If we are, feel free to cyber-kick us in the butt and tell us to suck it up.
Gus is still recovering from his suspected back sprain/strain. Our optimism at the beginning of the week quickly disappeared over the past couple of days. Seeing his beautiful plume tail between his legs is causing us serious anxiety and loss of sleep. Gus is headed back to Dr. Kyzar today for another check. 😦

On to happier news…look what arrived a couple of weeks ago! Thanks to all your wonderful help, our Orange Gingham blanketID tag arrived and couldn’t be cuter! Several of you expressed interest in the tag, so we thought we’d walk you through the easy peasy registration process.
Inside the package contained the blanketID tag and instruction booklet.
Mr. Nosey Pants moseyed in to see what we were up to.
Ahhhhh! Isn’t it the cutest thing ever?! We were so happy the majority selected the Orange Gingham design. It was our personal favorite and we knew it would match his fur and new collar (post coming soon) perfectly!
We’re absolutely gaga over the small size of the tag.
These next few photos crack us up. We didn’t intend for Gus to be in the shot…but he nosed his way in. Now we have visual proof of why we call him, Mr. Nosey Pants.
As previously mentioned, the registration process was a cinch. Within minutes, we were up and running. See below for screen shots of each step:
This next screenshot immediately caused our eyes to water. We hope to NEVER use the “Lost Poster” feature, but absolutely love that it’s offered as part of our online profile. If your pet goes missing, the last thing you want to do is spend valuable time finding a good photo and putting together a flyer. With your blanketID membership, it’s as easy as logging in and hitting print. It could also be uploaded to Facebook or sent as a tweet on Twitter to increase exposure.
Genius and heart-wrenching at the same time…
Phew…so glad we’re past the lost poster portion of this post. Onto how fabulous it looks on his collar!
We had to show you his city license tag. Texas is obsessed with creating as many objects as possible into the shape of Texas. Seriously. Texas-shaped tortilla chips, crackers, stepping stones…you name it; they’ll form it into the shape of the Lone Star State.
We took these photos last weekend when his back was causing him quite a bit of discomfort, so please excuse the blurry shots. We took them quickly so he wouldn’t move.
A few hours later, when Gus was feeling spunkier, we were able to capture a few more shots of him sporting his new blanketID tag.
Disclosure: blanketID very generously sent us a complimentary tag as thanks for our previous post. We were not compensated for either of our posts and the opinions are all our own. In an effort to pay the generosity forward, we added an additional $25 to our monthly donation to the Animal Defense League of Texas.
Thank you, blanketID!

In unrelated news, we have a huge favor to ask of you. Kimpton Hotels is currently holding a pet photo contest. The top five pet photos in each of the six rounds will advance to win a great giveaway, including a 2-night stay. We would LOVE to win this. We’re huge fans of Kimpton (SUPER dog-friendly) and will be staying at several of their locations during our travels. Help a dogger out by clicking here and “liking” Gus’s photo. Thanks!
Coincidentally, it was through a link on the blanketID FB page that we even learned of the contest!

Cutest ID tag I’ve seen. I should really have tags on Luna more often, she just often is either on leash (with no way of escape) or on property and within electric fence (and NOT going through anytime soon, as she went through for a rabbit, got buzzed and came BACK through and got buzzed again… all on her own)… Guess it’s high time since we have lived in this county for a couple months. So well done for being on top of things as usual. Did that clip come with the collar? I like that you can detach the whole shebang.. It’s hard to find clips that look like they would be strong enough but are not huge.
Sorry you are headed back to the vet, i hope they give you a more definitive answer this time. And great job with the photos, you are def figuring things out. I love when people start getting into Ap stuff as it can change the whole mood of the shot. Great lighting too. Keep it up.
Hope you have a great weekend, busy here and Luna is headed to a show Sunday!

blanketID sent the clip with our tag. Shoot! I forgot to mention that in the body of the post. It’s awesome. Gus was lucky enough to win a couple of collars the past few months and this clip will make it SO easy to switch them back and forth. Rubit Clips are available for purchase at blanketID.

I didn’t think it possible, but Gus looks even cuter with his new tag. It really was the perfect choice.
I have heard a lot of things about these tags. One more tool in one’s arsenal, just in case the worst should happen, is never a bad thing. I will have to look into it more.
Hope you have a great weekend and that Gus is doing better! Good luck with the house selling!

The new tag looks great! I just knew it would go well with his coloring! I got a chill when I saw the mock-up “Lost” poster as well….made me grimace, but let’s hope it’ll always be nothing more than a mock-up.
I’m so sorry Gus seems to be in more discomfort. I’m anxiously awaiting to hear the doctor’s assessment. My heart goes out to you both – there’s nothing worse than the frustration of seeing a loved one suffering and you can’t even communicate with them to find out exactly what’s wrong. We’ll keep you in our prayers for a major turnaround for Gus.
YES I’m on my way to hit that “Like” button now! I’d love to see you win!

That new tag is very cute, indeed, but I can’t help feeling sorry for little Gus having to carry all those things around his neck. We’ve got stupid rules about pets and tags here in the UK, too, but I managed to find someone who could squeeze all the essential information on one side of George’s tag and write that he’s chipped on the other side. He used to carry two tags until that point, which I always hated because of the clinkety noise they used to make whenever he moved.
Going to give Gus our vote right now! Hopefully this will cheer him up a bit!

March 18, 2011
That’s a great idea, Didi. He needs a new name tag anyway, so we’ll put all the important info (name, number, rabies, microchip) on one tag. That way, once we leave Texas, he will just have the two!

I hope Gus is all better soon. The new blanket id tag is too cute. We have our dogs microchipped, but I guess this would be added protection. However, knowing them they would probably loose them running through a field somewhere! 🙂

Where we live, the city insists on a city dog tag… but a rabies tag is not mandatory! Can you say “money grab?”
I voted for Gus (more than once, don’t tell Kimpton!), and am waiting for a tweet/fb update later to hear what the vet says. He needs to be all better!

Awww, Gus, I’m sorry to hear you’re still not well. I guess I’m just not sending the right amount of puppy prayers — I’ll get working on that right away.
I tried to vote for you, but I guess being a puppy (9 months old today!) has its drawbacks. I couldn’t find any Like buttons. I asked mommy to look too, but she didn’t see any either. I want to vote for you! Can you help us?

Ha, ha. Chester and Gretel have the same carabiner clippy for their tags!. It;s awesome that blanket ID sent the clip with the tag.
I really like the poster feature when you register. Of course you would hope you would never have to use it but it’s nice to have one ready to go you can grab instead of trying to throw one together when you are distraught (and when the time it takes to put one together cuts into your doggie searching time).
Thanks for showing us how small the tag is, although I am not sure the tag set next to the HUGE texas-size tag gives the proper perspective 🙂 I am still thinking of getting one for Chester and Gretel but, like I said before, they are so short I am afraid the elongated rectangle will hang down too far and bang on their legs when they walk. I mightg try though becasuse they are so cute. Right now they have Red Dingo enamel tags.

Hi Jessica, just wanted to let you know the tag is very lightweight and is only 1 inch high by 1/2 inch. We have them on our little cats, if you have any other questions, please let me know and thanks for your interest! 🙂

That ID tag sure was the right choice, it suits you perfectly! I noticed the little clip that all your tags are on, where did you get that? It looks pretty cool…….

Roxy the Traveling Dog

Could this tag replace having the chip inserted in your dog? Torrey is going to get spayed next week and I was going to have her “chipped”. I have never had Roxy chipped, she never wanders far. It would be nice to get them both a tag like this.
We had a horrid scare last Sat. My step son took both dogs with him when he went to visit his grandparents. Roxy loves them, but torrey has only been there a couple times, and was a little nervous about it. We got to there house about 30 mins later. Torrey and stepsons dog had been let out back to potty. They have a not even secure wrought iron gate on one end of the yard. Torrey was gone when I looked out there. She had only been out 5 mins. I am certain she went looking for mom and dad. I walked and the husband and stepson drove the neighborhood for 1 1/2 hours. I was very distraught, to say the least. Finally my husband found her, scared and sitting on the road. She has a tag with her name and my number, but someone has to want to call. If this tag would give me more piece of mind, and be as good as a chip, I’m all in.
Thanks, Mary

Hi We like to think that we are an extra line of defense! There are many views on microchips, and we have an article that might help in your decision making http://blog.blanketid.com/articles-3/hot-topic/
With blanket your information can be changed at any time even after your dog is lost so you can put in what relevant information you need someone to know if they found your pet and maybe save the trauma of going to a shelter!
Here’s a link to our video which explains how blanket works

Thanks so much for your interest Mary, if I can answer anything else, please let me know 🙂

March 18, 2011
We view it as an extra line of defense, too. We love that we can easily change our information online (as Cate mentioned). With microchips, there is a cost associated with changing your address and not near as universal or simple as with blanketID. Plus, the tag is adorable.
I’m so sorry to hear about last Saturday with Torrey. I can only imagine how worried and scared you were and am SO glad she was found!

Hi Y’all,
Thanks for stoppin’. I had to come back by and tell Gus just how many good thoughts, prayers and paw power is being sent his way!
Love the tag. It looks even better on him than we imagined!
Thanks for the “heads up” about “pet friendly” at Kimpton Hotels. We’ve been over to Gus’ picture. Hope it lets us return and vote again tomorrow.
Paws crossed,

P.S. My Human suggests if he doesn’t show improvement try to find a vet who does accupuncture. They’ve used it successfully on horses with bad backs and both Humans get accupuncture for their own backs.

So sorry that Gus is still under weather. I’ll send him more of my good health vibes right now! He’s got to fell better. He’s got a brand new id tag. I’ll bet he jingles beautifully when he walks. I know I do. I wish my tag were the shape of California. Mines just a boring little circle. Mamas from Texas I think she’s thinking of just getting a Texas shaped tag. And what’s wrong with Texas shaped stuff. Nobody else has such an interestingly shaped state. We love California but it’s not really that interesting is it? We’ll vote for you for the contest of course!

Oh my, just reading about you putting the Lost poster together made me tear up 😦 But that is a smart feature to put together now as opposed to if it ever happens. Which if that ever did with Lincoln, I would be in a valium/martini induced state.
Very cute charm, I love how fashionable Gus is with all of his charms. He has more bling than me and I’m human!!

As always Gus, you wear your bling well. 🙂
I am so sorry that you have had such a tough week. It makes me sad to think you are in pain. 😦
I don’t know if your vet has said anything, but perhaps a harness would be better for you? I have a dog client who used to also get back pain because of the way he was pulling on his leash with a regular collar. They swithed him to a harness at their et’s suggestion and it made a huge difference. Just a thought. I just want to see you feeling better Gus!

Today, I went to the beach with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her ear and screamed.
There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely

Fashion is something that is constantly changing, something that is deeply rooted in the way people present themselves and see themselves.
It’s a collection of fashion essays, articles, interviews and reviews that I have written and published in the past three years.
Basically the costume dramas brought fashion into real everyday eighties life.
