Iowa City, Iowa

Happy Saturday!

Last week we took you on our walking tour of downtown Lawrence, Kansas and this week we’re highlighting Iowa City, Iowa.  We visited Iowa City last summer when we were back in Iowa to see family.  We moved to San Antonio from Iowa City almost seven years ago and miss it often.  It’s the home of my alma mater, The University of Iowa, and holds a special place in our heart.  Who knows, maybe we’ll end up back there after we conclude our travels!

We were mildly obsessed with taking photos at odd angles last summer.  Or maybe we were just reliving walks through campus during our college days. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Check out Gus’s “snooty college boy” pose.  Apparently, college campuses bring out his pompous attitude.

We enjoyed lunch al fresco at Bo James in downtown Iowa City.   Unfortunately, we were too busy enjoying their “Burger Baskets and Big A** Beers” to snap a photo.

In 2010, Iowa City participated in “Play Me, I’m Yours”, an outdoor piano project pioneered by British artist Luke Jerram.  This was one of two pianos located downtown that were available for public use and enjoyment.  We considered dazzling the passing pedestrians with our rendition of Chopsticks, but decided buying an ice cream cone was more important.  ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thanks for all the kind comments about my donation to Locks of Love.  I chopped a full 12 inches off yesterday at the Aveda Institute!  For those interested in donating, check with your salon to see if they participate in the program.  Many salons (including the Aveda Institute) offer a complimentary cut when donating!

Weโ€™re participating in todayโ€™s Saturday Pet Blogger Hop.  Please click on the image and thank our wonderful hosts.  You can add your own blog via the Linky at the bottom of this post.  Happy Hopping!
