According to Gus, biscuit was an easy word to learn. When he was a puppy, every time he went outside to go do it, he was rewarded with a biscuit. Not surprisingly, Gus Biscuits are his absolute favorite type…they’re named after him!
Several years ago while perusing the dog aisle at Whole Foods, we happened upon these Whole Paws Tiny Bite Dog Biscuits. Not only were they perfectly Gus-sized, the model dog on the box looked a lot like a certain dogger we know.
Yay for no artificial colors or preservatives!
Am I the only one who looks at these biscuits and think the ends look like chubby baby buns? I giggle every time I grab one out of the pantry. I’m really not immature. I swear. 😉
Even though these are small, we normally break them in half before we give them to Gus. He thinks he deserves LOTS of treats throughout the day and never seems to notice the size. It’s a great way for us to minimize the number of goodies he eats without sacrificing his love for treats.
Isn’t the resemblance between Gus and the cute Peke on the Gus Biscuit box uncanny?! We’ve always thought it looked like Gus, but couldn’t believe the similarity when we dug up this photo and changed it to black and white. Of course, we think Gus is 100 times cuter than the model dog, but we’re a little biased. 😉
While browsing around Whole Foods’ website, we found a recipe for Homemade Peanut Butter and Banana Dog Treats. It sounds pretty yummy!

Thank you to everyone who helped us decide on a blanketID tag design in our post last week. Gingham Orange was the clear favorite, with Scotty and Bounce following closely behind. Obviously, I couldn’t miss an opportunity to schedule the results. 😉 We can’t wait for it to arrive!

We hope you all have a fantastic hump day. The temperature in San Antonio has been in the upper 70’s and sunny all week. It’s starting to feel like spring!
It’s Wednesday and time to stop over at BlogPaws for their Wordless Wednesday Linky. We’ll update our post with the code when it’s available. Happy Hopping!

Wow! At first I thought it was Gus on the package and you had the bag “custom” made somehow. We’ll have to stop by Whole Foods and check out those biscuits, I’m sure Tiffy will love them too:)

We don’t have a Whole Foods in VT. Tragic, I know! We have a lot of independent coop groceries though.
You know what else we don’t have? A Target, or an Ikea. I hope that Gus will still like VT when you visit on your trip!
I always break treats in 1/2 as well, Winnie never seems to notice! 😉

Big-box stores are not all they’re cracked up to be! That’s what we’ve heard is so charming about VT…it’s not so commercial!
We can’t wait to visit VT…only about 6 more months!

I love how much Gus looks like the dog on his biscuit bag.
The local pug rescue sells homemade dog cookies so that is what she usually gets for biscuits.

WOW the resemblance between Gus and “that other dog” is amazing! Maybe he can become a spokesdog too!
Thanks for the info about those treats, we shop at Whole Foods too and we’ll check them out.

Spike and Dru, being the divas and spoiled brats they are, were trained to go outside with string cheese. However, now everytime they come inside when called they get a bone as a treat. We’ll have to try these as an alternative to the generic brand we’re using. Also can’t wait to try the peanut butter and banana treats.

That is Gus on the treat bag! Is he getting royalties? If not, he should.
Hu-mom also breaks our treats into smaller pieces…she says it’s good for our waist line and the budget.
Gus is a beautiful guy!

Haha Gus, your Mum really did make a graph of the blanket ID survey, I bet she was happy! It looks cool….
My Mum does the same thing with me and treats, I get lots of bits if she can break them up. Have you tried carrots and ice cubes, they’re my favourites and Mum says they’re really good for me too!
I think I also need her to go and check out your new Peanut Butter and Banana recipe too though!!

So glad to participate in your tough decision. It was cool to see the results in a graph…as well as that I picked the winning design!
The Whole Foods treats are not being carried at my store 😦 but I’ll watch for them. Meanwhile I make mine and the gang loves my recipe. For Valentines we made a carob/walnut treat that the dogs and I all love. Check it out at http://www.allthingsdogblog.com/2011/02/dog-safe-faux-chocolate-that-you-can.html

Hi! Gus! It’s me Buddy! Gosh! are you sure you haven’t been sneaking out for a little work on the side? That picture looks so much like you! But they say everyone has a look alike out there somewhere! Confidentially, on closer look you are much cuter. Have a great treat day, dude!

Those treats look yummy and Gus does look just like the Peke on the container. We noticed right away. Whole foods is our favorite place to shop from time to time. Opie’s treat from there was a piece of the leg of lamb that we made for V- day dinner t hat night. Whole Foods Rocks!
Try their fish too! Would gus like a little piece of salmon filet? ( minus all the stuff we humans might like on it) Nice Omega 3’s 🙂
As usual, you pix inspire me! Great photos of Gus!

We think Gus is much prettier than that Peke. Gus has a nose. We had to laugh at the Pekes at Westminster looking like little walking mops. They should put Gus on the box.

Also, perhaps Gus has a future career in advertising? Did you watch Westminster last night? He is way cuter than that Peke.

Freaky! In a completely narcissistic aside, my oldest (who is now 13) looked just like the Gerber baby when she was born. She never got compensation either.

Thanks for mentioning these–I dont have WF but when I go, I’m always looking for new things to try and like to hear about small dog options since a lot of the treats out there seem to be geared towards big dogs.
