Gus is Heading to Sin City!

Posted on February 12, 2011

According to Gus, he doesn’t understand why his parents ramble on and on about Las Vegas.  What’s all the hoopla about?

We fully admit…we love Vegas.  The first time we experienced Sin City was en route to Los Angeles via Greyhound.  We were in college and thought it’d be a good idea to trek cross-country during spring break to visit our friend in Cali.  Longest. Ride. Ever.  But, that’s another story for another day. 😉  Our next (real) visit was in 2009 to meet up with family.  It took all of 30 minutes on the Strip for us to become completely enamored.  So much so that we returned a mere eight months later!

You can imagine our excitement when we received the following piece of mail from Total Rewards.  We signed up and earned points on the (free) Total Rewards card during our previous stays at Planet Hollywood and Paris.  Every few months they send us tempting offers in the mail, coaxing us to return.  Las Vegas was already on our trip itinerary but we planned on staying off-Strip due to the area being notoriously non dog-friendly.  Until now…

Caesars Entertainment (Caesars Palace, Paris, Planet Hollywood, Harrah’s, Flamingo, Bally’s, Rio and Imperial Palace) recently unveiled their PetStay Las Vegas program which allows dogs to stay at a designated area of the hotel for a fee.  Dogs are provided with food and water dishes, a mat, poop bags and treats.  You can read more about their program here.  We’re already envisioning Gus in a gaudy colored suit a la Mr Pappagiorgio in Vegas Vacation.

Tip:  Sign up for (and use!) the free player cards casinos offer.  Our three night stay at Paris during our second trip in 2009 was free.  We are not big gamblers, but did remember to always use our card when playing the slots or dining at any of the casino restaurants.  All the points add up!

M’s a total sugar fanatic.  I better hide this mailer before he reads about the 15,000 square foot Sugar Factory.  It’s described as “Willy Wonka meets the trendsetting style of MTV” and even serves breakfast.  I’m imagining pancakes stuffed with Nerds and Gummy Bears.

We’re going to let you in on our secret master plan…Vegas doesn’t know it yet, but we intend to deposit $20 into the Hot Shot slot machine and hit the jackpot.  We have visions of enjoying the remainder of our trip across the U.S. in Canada in high-roller style.  If only it were that easy.  Sigh…

We’ll wrap up today’s post with a continuation of our current puppy Gus obsession.  Once we started digging into the old photos, we came across so many that we oohed and aahed over.  We couldn’t resist sharing a few more today.  Looking at puppy photos never gets old, right?

We hope you all have a fantastic weekend!  There are more house showings scheduled for this weekend (keep your fingers crossed), so we’ve been up to our eyeballs with dusting, scrubbing and organizing.  Fortunately for Gus, house showings = extra long walks. 🙂

We’re participating in today’s Saturday Pet Blogger Hop.  We’ll add the Linky at the bottom of this post when it’s available.  Happy Hopping!
