Los Patios

Happy Blog Hop Saturday!  We hope you enjoy our post as we highlight another San Antonio dog friendly destination, Los Patios.

Los Patios is located on 20 (beautiful!) acres in NE San Antonio.  According to their website, the site of Los Patios was once inhabited by nomadic Indians drawn to the shade and water of Salado Creek.

Los Patios’ dog friendly rules are prominently displayed at the entrance.  While we totally understand and respect why a restaurant wouldn’t allow dogs on the chairs, it was disappointing for Gus.  He’s used to sitting on a chair while he’s waiting for us to finish eating.  We did break one rule (shhh, don’t tell on us) and gave him a small piece of duck jerky to keep him occupied.  Of course, we’re not posting any photographic evidence.  😉

This next photo is our new favorite of Gus.  M and I both agree that he looks sort of sad, but his sweet, sleepy eyes and long, wispy ears make our hearts melt!

As usual, Gus was very curious and so we spent the first few minutes walking around so he could check the place out.  So many new, exciting smells!

It took Gus awhile to find a comfortable spot, but before long he was snoozing away…

Now that the cute dogger photos are all accounted for…let’s talk about the food!  I have a real obsession passion for food photography and always lug our DSLR with us when we dine out.  Poor M is so used to my antics that he sits patiently when his food arrives knowing I’ll want to snap a few photos.  What a guy!

*Warning*  The following biscuit photo may cause you to drool on your keyboard.

Believe me, these biscuits were as delicious as they look.  Flaky, golden brown and sitting in a pool of butter.  OMG.  I want a biscuit right now!

Seriously, is there anything better than a bowl of cheese soup?  I think not!  Unfortunately, it didn’t taste quite as yummy as it looked.  Have no fear, all was okay in the world once we dunked our biscuit in it. 😉

Mmmmm…waffle fries.

We topped off our lunch with a slice of strawberry pie!  We don’t normally order dessert but splurged because we had a Living Social certificate.  It was definitely worth the extra calories.

We had the entire gorgeous patio all to ourselves.  Apparently, 70 degrees is too chilly for Native Texans to dine outside.  As former Iowans, the weather couldn’t have been more ideal.

Next time we visit Los Patios we’ll be sure to take a stroll on the walking trails.

Here’s our dining recap:

********************************

+ Dog Friendly Patio
+ Very Friendly Staff (they all loved Gus!)
+ Living Social discount ($30 certificate for $15)
+ Conveniently located off Loop 410
+ Ambiance
+/- Average food (dog friendly dining will be the reason we return)

We passed this sign on our way out of Los Patios and it’s the perfect photo for us to end our post on.  Thanks for visiting.  Come back soon!
