Happy New Year!

Posted on January 1, 2011

According to Gus, last night’s low-key New Year’s Eve was just what the doctor ordered.

After we dropped my parents off at the airport yesterday (sniffle, sniffle), we took Gus for a long walk at the park to tucker him out.  We then took down the Christmas tree (so much more fun to put it up than take it down), cleaned the house, and caught up on laundry.  Gus was so tired from all our week’s activities, that he was perfectly content to snooze all day.  The poor little guy was exhausted.

After the house was reassembled and the decorations were stowed away, we were completely useless for the rest of the day.  Instead of uploading photos and ironing clothes, we put a puzzle together and watched Easy A and Despicable Me.  I’m not going to lie, it was a glorious way to spend a Friday afternoon.

We vowed to be more productive today, so we’re starting our morning with a long walk/run on the River Walk with Gus.  After some boring chores around the house, I fully intend to catch up on blog reading.  My Google Reader has almost 200 unread posts from the past week.  Eeek!  I’m looking forward to reading about everyone’s holiday!

As for today’s date, we couldn’t be more excited for the arrival of 2011!  Our trip around the U.S. is getting closer and closer and the countdown is officially on!

Here are some of our (and Gus’s) resolutions for the new year:

  • Lose the extra holiday pounds we happily put on the past month
  • Work with Gus on his anxiety issues
  • Finish planning our trip
  • Learn more about DSLR photography
  • Continue to improve Gus’s dog-socialization skills

We wish you all a very Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! Love, Gus

P.S. Don’t tell anyone, but we didn’t even stay awake long enough to ring in the new year. I guess we were as exhausted as Gus 🙂
